I would have to agree with some, this season was out of touch with the public.
Using celebs of 2 genterations ago and using thier material , went a little to far. I know you're trying for my generation of the 70's and early 80's, but this is 2008. I say why not give it a twist. knock it up a generation for better demagrahic reppresentation. With a little touch of the past.
If you don't use your history , one won't understand the present or the future to appreciate music.
Maybe some of modern day music scene looks. well lets say chaotic and stale no form or structure. Maybe there is a new search in what Rock and other music traditions can become again.
Also give the less professional types in, like a diamond in the ruff. This last season looked like the diamsonds were already there and obvious to most who watch the show. Even I stop watching so perdictable. Raise the age 18 or 20.
Well the old jazzman has siad enough.

1) Add Paris, London, Rome and Sydney into addition cities
2) Have a panel of 30 professionally qualified analysts that come into the competition at the stage of 24, maintain stage names and short publicized analysis and have some sort of bearing on outcome- add credibility like NCAA coaches poll

Many of us liked Archie and I too felt that he was fantastic as a singer, but when it came down to who had the whole package as a singer/entertainer it was definately and always has been David Cook. I am glad to see that America got it right and that it did not come down to the usual popularity contest! The real singer/entertainer won!!!
Archie will certainly have his career, he most definately has the talent to do so and we have not seen the last of him, and for that I am thankful, but again in my opinion we have the proper winner! After last night's performances, though, I must say that Archuleta absolutely handed Cook his mic on a platter. Cook was solid and very good, but lacked a WOW moment, he lacked the magic. Archuleta's first song was jaw-dropping, with phenomenal VOCALS (which is what the show's all about) and he never looked back.
Both Davids deserve to win. They will both be great artists in their own right.

This season has squashed my faith in both the judges and the general public to recognize talent. I have a very hard time believing that the judges actually think David Archuletta has what it takes to make it big in the recording industry. He sounds no different from the good singers I hear in my small town church. They are good, but by no means "idols" in music! What in the world has happened? This has become such a teeny-bopper popularity show it turns my stomach...and I am not alone. David Cook is so incredibly talented and unique and has star written all over him. David A is nothing else but a Disney character who will, without a doubt, fade out after a bit of time in the limelight. Randy has worked with some of the best in the business...so how can he call this boring, predictable, "golly gee" kid "the bomb" week after week? There is just no way....something is awry and I will no longer be a part of the AI audience. What a joke this show has become!!!!! Was this review helpful? Jason Castro and Brooke should have gone long ago.Jason was a total joke. What I find a total waste of time is Ryan speaking with people who have called in with questions. Also, groups they are trying to push that have nothing to do with the show. Total waste of time. I would like to see more of the contestants performing or past winners and what they are doing now. And some of the people who should still be ther would be. Although Cook is so well rounded, I think Little David has the teeny-bopper vote.
