All
the songs on my list have inspired me to transform my feelings into
tangible, life-affirming moments that carry me in times of change and
great turmoil. The more aggressive songs such as "Jesus Christ Pose," "Sex
Type Thing," and most of Tool, speak to my rebelliousness. They really
charge my root chakra and ignite my raw, sexual, animalistic side. They
empower me to the core, make me feel strong. Some of the more somber,
contemplative songs ("Psychotic Break," "Down in a Hole," "Garden," "Steel
Rain") sing to the darker more depressive aspects of my nature. When I
listen to these songs, while dwelling in the underside/shadow of myself, I
don't feel alone. The romantic side of my soul vibrates toward songs like
"Still My Beating Heart," and "Lover, You Should Have Come Over." Finally,
some of the songs like "The Dancer," "No Quarter," and "You and I" indulge
my dreamy, gypsy-esque, transcendental "higher self." They coerce me into
a state of simply being at one with myself and my surroundings. All this
music takes me on a magical journey with no boundaries. |
