Dave calls the elimination shows
"Black Wednesday," and although Jordis is sent home, tonight's show
was truly special. For the first time INXS appears on the "Rock Star:INXS"
stage, performing one of their new songs.
But before that happens, there's some business to attend to. Dave
has some questions for the Rockers about their reactions to the
photo shoot they did for Levi's. He wonders out loud why Jordis doesn't like having her picture
taken -- he says a photo of her mowing the lawn would look great.
She explains that she couldn't get her head around the idea of "200
people looking at you" while the camera was clicking away. Dave
reminds her that if she does become the lead singer of INXS, she'll
be doing many more photo shoots.
Dave then comments on Suzie -- she appears to
blossom under the camera's eye. Suzie agrees and says that when she
saw the photos, she didn't recognize herself. Dave calls it an
amazing transformation, both in terms of her appearance and her
performances.
Dave also wants a little more dirt about J.D.'s birthday party. J.D. explains
that the five Rockers work hard, and he wanted them to play hard as
well. And what's more fun than a birthday cake food fight? Dave
wishes he was invited, joking that given their antics, the Rockers
could have mentored him.
The next order of business is the encore. Instead of having INXS
determine this week's encore, the fans were asked to vote for their
favorite original song on rockstar.msn.com. It was
neck and neck between J.D. and Marty for most of the
night, but J.D. pulled ahead and got to sing the encore of his
original song, "Pretty Vegas."
But he's going to have a tough act to follow. Dave asks J.D. if
he can choose the other encore tonight. Surprising everyone, he says
INXS will take the stage before him, performing their new song,
"Us," which Dave says has a message that we need to hear during
these troubled times. The band asks Dave to sit in on guitar, and
because it's the song they all learned as part of the studio clinic
a few weeks ago, the Rockers join them on vocals.
Before this week's bottom three is revealed, there's a taped
segment showing what happened back at the Mansion after Tuesday
night's show. And not everyone there is feeling confident. Suzie
didn't feel she did everything she could with her song -- she's
really feeling the pressure, she says. MiG had never felt so nervous before a
performance -- his hands were shaking. But it's Jordis who is the
most troubled; she feels like she's blowing it. She's worried that
perhaps she peaked too soon. Her recent performances just haven't
matched her vocals from earlier weeks. MiG tries to console her,
telling her that "it's hard to be in the middle once you've been on
top," but his words are cold comfort.
Back in the studio, Dave asks if the pressure is getting to her.
Jordis tells him she's second guessing herself. J.D. is moving in
the opposite direction; after a few weeks of sub par performances,
he says he's stopped all the game playing and is now concentrating
on what he came here to do -- become the lead singer of INXS.
It's now time to see who is in this week's bottom three, and who
will be going home. At the close of Tuesday night's performance
show, the audience was shown the standings of all five Rockers. In
order from most votes to least, it's Marty, Suzie, J.D., MiG and
Jordis. As the voting continued throughout the night, the rankings
changed and the final tally reveals that Jordis, Suzie and J.D.
received the least votes. MiG remains the only Rocker never to have
had to sing for INXS.
Jordis is first up, and Garry tells her she should stop second
guessing herself and sing "Need You Tonight." It doesn't sound
like she takes his advice. Even though her song has one of the
strongest grooves in the INXS catalog, she can't find the pocket
where her voice can fit comfortably in the beat. She's pleased,
calling it the most fun she's had since the show's start. When Garry
asks if she thinks she's the right singer for INXS, she doesn't
sound as sure of herself. "I hope so," she tells him. "I don't want
to leave."
Suzie is all confidence when she takes the stage, and Jon tells
her to take this opportunity to sing "Never Tear Us Apart." It's not an
opportunity she's going to let pass by. She really gets her teeth in
to this one -- it's a passionate, dramatic and deeply soulful
performance. But is she confident she can lead the band? After
tripping over her tongue, she tells Jon she's certain she can.
J.D. is the final Rocker singing for INXS tonight. Kirk is
mystified that J.D.'s in the bottom three tonight, especially after
the fans also awarded him an encore -- so the perfect song for him
is "Mystify." J.D. handles
the song's riff perfectly, his dark-hued voice adding just an edge
of sensuality. And what would he bring to the band? "My heart," he
tells Kirk, adding that he'd give them back everything he's gotten
from their music.
It's a subdued INXS that returns after deliberations. "It's not
going to get any easier," Tim tells the three vulnerable Rockers.
"The real work begins when one of you becomes a member of INXS."
With that said, Tim tells Jordis she's not right for INXS.
Tim assures her that the band still loves her and is sad to see
her leave. They all believe in her talent and are sure she'll become
a huge star in her own right very soon. In fact, Tim says he will be
the first in line to buy her album. Dave agrees, saying he'll miss
her and is sure that some time in the future, the two of them will
play music together. Andrew thanks her for putting her heart and
soul into the show.
A tearful Jordis thanks INXS and the other Rockers, calling her
time on the show the most rewarding thing she's ever done. Based on
the talent she displayed on the show, there's no doubt in anyone's
mind she'll be successful in whatever she chooses to do next.
When even an immensely talented Rocker like Jordis can be sent
home, it's getting down to the wire. Don't miss a minute of what's
sure to be an exciting final two weeks of "Rock Star:INXS." Watch
the reality show on VH1 Sunday at 8PM, the performance show on CBS
Tuesday at 10PM and the elimination show Wednesday at 9PM (all
times ET/PT).
