Week 10 Reality Recap
In the last few weeks, the Rockers have undergone so much stress that some of
them have cracked under the pressure. With two weeks left in the competition, no
one is safe. Rather than being glum about their predicament, the Rockers chose
to blow off steam. Magni turned the tables on the house prankster, Toby, by
shoving a piece of cake in the Aussie's face, leading to a full-on food fight.
After a very messy melee, the Rockers cleaned up with an impromptu dip in the
pool. Magni reflected, "That was the most fun we've had for weeks."
Fun and games were put aside when the Rockers geared up for the next day's
songwriting clinic. Each Rocker would work individually with Gilby Clarke on a
new Supernova track. How would their songs turn out?
Meeting with Gilby at guitar giant, Gibson's, headquarters, the Rockers
brought what they had crafted the day before. The results were mixed. "This is a
little window to who they are as people," Gilby stated. Storm impressed with her
professionalism. Toby also did well. Gilby enthused "Toby comes in with a fresh
new approach... he's got a lot of energy and it's energy we need." Magni,
however, failed to come up with a song title, disappointing Gilby, who didn't
find his writing especially creative. Lukas fared better. Praised for not taking
"the generic route" in terms of lyrics, melody and chorus, Gilby still found him
a bit lazy in terms of completing his tune. And then there was Dilana. Gilby
stated it succinctly: "Dilana's writing was a little cliché...I could have
almost predicted what she was going to say in the song."
The next day's song selection had a surprise in store: the Rockers would
perform an original song in addition to their standard cover. Though thrilled to
show more of themselves, rivalries still raged. Lukas and Dilana battled for The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes," arguing over who deserved it
more. In a clever move, Magni appealed to Lukas' ego by triple-daring him to
sing Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer." The ploy worked. Dilana got
her tune, but her unfamiliarity with the song proved challenging in ways she
didn't anticipate. Regardless, the Rocker remained confident: "I'm gonna win
back my fans. They need me." And she, like every other Rocker, needs them.
