Week 7 Reality Recap
After six weeks of demanding performances and most recently, the surprise
double elimination of Josh and Jill, the Rockers were more stressed than ever.
Though they have enjoyed mansion parties, massages and some freshly drawn
tattoos, nothing could compare to a well-earned trip to Las Vegas.
After arriving by private jet, they took in the stage at the Hard Rock Hotel
where one of them would perform with Supernova come New Year's Eve. The
penthouse was next, complete with hot tub, bowling alley and of course, a party.
Drinks, dancing and beautiful people made for a wild time. Jason Newsted
observed that as members of Supernova, the Rockers would be under constant
scrutiny, so they should behave accordingly. Some Rockers took it easier while
others, chiefly Toby and Lukas, got smashed early and faded even faster. Good
times.
Seriously hung over, the Rockers returned to the mansion ready to sleep, but
not Dilana. Since it was her birthday, she wanted to extend the festivities.
Lukas and Toby would fall victim to her practical jokes. Lukas got a drink in
his belly button while Toby had his feet tied together (altogether too
willingly).
The next morning, Ryan, who had refrained from over-indulging the night
before, was first to the song board. In store, were two surprises: one, that
someone could perform one of their own original songs and two, that Gilby would
again be playing onstage with one of the Rockers (on Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill"). This time, everyone competed to play with
Gilby, resulting in a showdown between Dilana and Toby. Toby won after agreeing
to Dilana's dare--he stripped naked and ran around the pool (again, altogether
too willingly).
Meanwhile, Ryan and Zayra fought over the original song performance. Though
Ryan told Zayra "You can say 'really' as much as you want," he folded when Toby
assured him that Ryan's take on "In the Air Tonight" was a show stealer. "Solved," said
Zayra.
Since all the songs would be stripped down for their next performance, some
of the Rockers were nervous about song choice and arrangement. Toby struggled
with the complicated melodies and Storm, who chose the Gloria Gaynor disco anthem "I Will Survive," seemed lost for the first time. Knowing
disco isn't the vibe Supernova was going for, Storm said: "I'm very
concerned...[the song's] iconic in a very non-rock and roll way."
Though in Vegas they may have partied like rock stars, the Rockers remembered
how much they must perform like rock stars. Will they pull it off? We can only
wait and see.
