Week 5 Reality Recap
Entering week five, everyone felt more vulnerable than ever. At the mansion,
the Rockers discussed Phil's dismissal. Ryan put it succinctly, "When they sent
Phil home it was a shocker...nobody's safe." Toby expressed everyone's
sentiments: "I honestly thought you were going Z" he told the controversial
Rocker. But Zayra took it in stride: Everyone was sad to see Phil go...I'm truly
sorry but I have to take this. He would have."
In a separate room, the male Rockers appeared downright angry. Toby
complained, "It's a disgrace...there's six chicks in there, we're getting
overrun." Lukas assured him the guys would step it up: "Now they're going to see
how the boys can rule."
On a more touching note, Magni watched a message from his baby and fiancée
back in Iceland. The emotional virtual reunion seemed to recharge his
batteries.
Another charge came from Jason Newsted who visited the Mansion for a
stagecraft clinic. Each Rocker watched their previous performances, some with
considerably less comfort than others.
Jill discussed her grinding "Brown Sugar" performance with Gilby. As Jason pointed out,
"one of the most important things is awareness on stage and knowing when to get
the hell out of the way." Jill did nothing to dispel Jason's assessment that she
took everything too personally by continuing to discuss, assess and defend her
performance.
Song choice came the next day with Lukas' bold move. "I just grabbed [the
songs] off the board, threw them on the table and said, 'let's deal.'" The
Rockers chose their tunes with relative ease, though Patrice expressed second
thoughts about nabbing "Higher Ground." Since the song would feature Tommy on drums,
she was nervous about the microscope she would be facing.
Nerves continued to fray. During rehearsal, Zayra jousted with the House Band
over the arrangement of "867-5309 (Jenny)" and Storm questioned whether she could
handle the intensely personal "Changes." "I'm nervous this won't rock" said the usually
confident Rocker. But she ended her apprehension on a positive note: "I'm going
to give it 1,000 percent." Let's hope all the Rockers follow suit.
