Week 3 Reality Recap
The first weeks in the mansion found the Rockers bonding, laughing and
sharing--things people often do when placed in an exciting, almost surreal
environment.
But heading into week three? That's a different story.
After Chris' elimination, the Rockers discussed Supernova's decision over
dinner. While both Zayra and Dilana were sad to see Chris go, Lukas threw out
this zinger: "I think for that particular performance I would have chosen
someone else." Jill was especially offended: "I think it was rude and
inappropriate& Why can't he do his thing and keep his mouth shut?"
Jill's dream almost came true when Lis Lewis, renowned vocal coach, conducted
the Rockers' first vocal clinic. A few were nervous, including Dilana and
especially Lukas. Even with a shaky start, Dilana revealed that, yep, she's got
range.
The usually self-assured Lukas, however, received more criticism. Lis warned
him about injuring his voice. The advice appeared to sink in but Lukas still
claimed: "I have many sides to my voice, but I just don't feel like revealing
them right now."
The next morning's song selections brought drama. Because one of the songs
would be accompanied by a member of Supernova, competition was fierce. Ryan was
angry over Josh grabbing Nirvana's "Come as You Are" while Patrice and Jill
battled over The Beatles' "Helter Skelter." Catfight anyone?
Lukas, took the only one left, The Rolling Stones' "Let's Spend the Night
Together." "I'm gonna show these scare-dy cats what rock and roll is all about."
But will he?
During rehearsal, Lukas impressed the Band with his first take on the
classic. Band Leader Paul Mirkovich stated, "When Lukas& started to sing
[it] as a typical rock song, he sounded great." He didn't agree when Lukas
decided to change it, calling it "a mistake...to try and make
it...dark...Marilyn Manson...it just doesn't seem to fit. I can't imagine what
Gilby will think, [he] is like the biggest Stones fan in the world."
And Lukas? "I'm putting myself out there, but life is about taking risks and
dealing with the consequences."
Consequences? For the Rockers' performances, they could be immense.
