BEAUSOLEIL: Since its formation in Lafayette, La., in the
late '70s, BeauSoleil has proven a major exponent for Cajun music, preserving
and evangelizing its traditions even as it incorporated elements of other
styles. Led by fiddler Michael Doucet and his brother, guitarist David, the
veteran group takes its name from Joseph Broussard dit Beausoleil, who led
Acadian resistance to British deportation from Canada in the mid-1700s. (Image:
