"We really do feel we are soulmates." That's schmoopy newlywed Mariah Carey, who does her best to jinx her impromptu union
to Nick Cannon in the pages of People, which scored the
exclusive snaps of their not-a-joke April 30 knot-tying in the Bahamas.
"I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me," sighs the big-lunged
chanteuse, 39, who donned a slinky white wedding dress from Nile Cmylo,
Christian Louboutin heels and a dinner napkin-like veil for the secret sunset
nuptials at her sumptuous island estate.
"She is beautiful on the outside and 10 times as beautiful on the inside,"
swoons her dewy if unoriginal groom, 27, who also sported white for the
ceremony.
It was apparently "love at first sight" for the actor, who decided he and the
body-conscious songbird should stick together until death following six long
weeks of coupledom (and a prominent role in her "Bye, Bye" video).
Cannon marked the momentous milestone by slipping an oh-so-humble 17-carat,
$2.5 million pink diamond sparkler on Carey's finger during an April 25 proposal
on the roof of her New York apartment building. The behemoth bauble was an
upgrade from the 12-carat ring he presented in a Jumbotron-captured proposal to
Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks last year, although he reportedly
purchased both from the same high-end New York jewelry store.
Life & Style says while Nick handled the gems, Mariah took care of the "I
do" plans, even watching over the wedding cake as they jetted to the Bahamas on
a private plane.
"It was on the seat next to her," a snitch tells the magazine. "She wouldn't
let anyone come near it or touch it."
And just in case you have any doubts about the impetuous pair's endless love,
they decided to seal their commitment with indelible ink.
People says they've needled on tattoos, with Mariah opting to emblazon her
back with "Mrs. Cannon," an optimistic move previously made -- and regretted --
by the likes of Angelina Jolie ("Billy Bob"), Pamela Anderson ("Tommy") and Johnny Depp ("Winona Forever").
"To me rings are special and exciting, but tattoos mean more than anything,"
says Nick, who wrote his beloved's first name across his back. "They're forever
and ever."
The wildly hopeful couple is also discussing the pitter-patter of little
feet, with the cleavage-thrusting chart-topper revealing, "It's part of the
whole purpose of getting married. I'd just want our children to have the best
childhood and upbringing they possibly could."
Her stance is surprising given that just a few weeks ago she expressed some
reservations about procreating.
"It's hard to have kids in this world," Carey told OK!. "I don't think I
could properly educate a child right now. Maybe in the future, but actually I
haven't thought about it. For now I enjoy my dog Jack's company."
At least the impulsive Mimi may have taken precautions before her latest walk
down the aisle (she previously wed music mogul Tommy Mottola in an extravagant,
fairy tale-style affair in 1993).
FoxNews.com says, despite reports to the contrary, she did indeed have her
far less famous hubby sign an agreement that makes it clear her many
rainbow-covered charm bracelets and her expansive collection of stilettos and
sausage-casing clothing is hers and hers alone.
"Anyone who thinks we didn't have a prenup is smoking something!" she
purportedly told a pal.
The cougar-tastic couple is also said to be considering a "big party" and
perhaps an "I do" redo in New York once they return from their honeymoon.
