It's often tough for British celebrities to break through in the United
States (see the Beckhams), but Heather Mills is that rare exception. Seems she's as
enthusiastically despised in America as she is in her homeland. People magazine
reports the money-hungry former Mrs. Paul McCartney was booed when she was introduced as
one of the judges at the Miss USA pageant Friday in Las Vegas. Unfortunately,
the frosty reception hasn't cooled her on the country. "I'm going to move to
America, Los Angeles hopefully," Mills informed the London Daily Mirror after
the pageant. "I love England, but everything that has happened makes me realize
I'll be better off in the States." And despite the jeers, she enjoyed some
post-pageant partying, with People reporting she boogied down at hot spot Prive
to -- wait for it -- "She Works Hard for the Money." Meanwhile, Miss USA pageant
co-owner Donald Trump is displaying that same pop-culture
sensibility that foisted Omarosa onto an unsuspecting public, enthusing to the
mag, "I think America wants more Heather Mills." Go on, say it with us: Shut up,
Trump.
At the tender age of 18, Hayden Panettiere is already jaded by the incredible
burden of fame. "I don't ever go out. I stay at home," the "Heroes" cutie-pie tells the
London Sunday Mirror. "This business is very intrusive. People want to know what
you're doing every day, and it becomes less about your craft and your art, and
your love for acting, than it is about when you put food in your mouth, or when
you're walking your dog." Or who you're dating, which in Panettiere's case has
been her 30-year-old co-star, Milo Ventimiglia (which probably makes that whole
staying home thing that much more enjoyable). "I like somebody who is confident
and independent, and obviously it helps if they're secure in themselves," she
explains. "Because sometimes in my job, I obviously have to make out with hot
men, so a good sense of humor helps to deal with this!"
Is Jessica Alba making accessory demands of her pals?
That's the word from the New York Post, which says guests at the stork-awaiting
actress' recent baby shower were asked to slip on leather bracelets and recite a
"life, love, health, et cetera" prayer for good luck. Then, in the accoutrement
equivalent of a chain letter, the invitees were supposedly cautioned not to
remove the bands until the big debut of Alba's little nipper, who's rumored to
be a girl.
Ashton Kutcher admits his decision to wed Demi Moore in 2005 might not have been the best thing
for his image. "I've literally just been voted the world's most eligible
bachelor and I'm like, I'm going off the market," he tells Details of his
decision to embrace cougar-y domestic bliss. "I've found the one. If I had
thought about it I would have been like, Nah, nah. But what can you do? When
you're in that deep, you can't think." And the reason the actor was in that deep
is because Demi "was the first person who would call me on my s---," he
explains. "She didn't need me. She straight up didn't need me. She wanted me,
but she didn't need me, so she could put it on the line."
