Is Jennifer Lopez going a wee bit overboard in pampering
-- figuratively, not literally -- her double bundles of poopy-pantsed joy, who
debuted on Feb. 22?
On the heels of reports that Mrs. Marc Anthony decorated Max and Emme's room at the
family's Long Island estate with French cribs, a chandelier and 18-karat gilded trim comes word from the London Daily
Mirror that she's also picked up a few more newborn necessities.
Among her purported purchases: a pair of Shetland ponies, which, given their
life span, would probably be middle-aged by the time the tykes are old enough to
ride them.
"Jennifer has gone all-out to give the twins an amazing childhood," says an
insider. "She had the nursery painted a beautiful aquamarine and light blue --
colors which are supposed to have intelligence-boosting properties."
According to the paper, other indulgences include hiring a professional baby
masseuse to give the rug rats rubdowns and buying 600-count Egyptian cotton
sheets for them to soil sleep on.
As for the many deluxe gifts the deep-pocketed parents have received from
well-wishers, they're supposedly keeping them far away from their ankle-biters.
"The twins' wing is totally sterile and all flowers and presents are stored
in a separate room, so they don't contaminate the babies' area," maintains the
mole. "It may sound excessive but she's only got her kids' best interests at
heart and wants to give them the start in life she never had."
In other, more believable and less luxury goods-centric mothering news, Salma Hayek reveals why her belly seemed so
uncomfortably tumescent while she was carrying now 5-month-old daughter
Valentina.
"I had diabetes while I was pregnant. I became huge," the sublime actress,
41, reveals in the April issue of Glamour. "And I said, 'This is what it takes
for me to have this baby, and I really want it.' Then you don't know if it's
going to be healthy; you are completely out of control. So the experience really
makes you humble."
Hayek, who says she's in no rush to swap vows with her filthy rich fiancé
(and Valentina's father) François Henri Pinault, also admits that she had some
definite expectations for her offspring that didn't come to fruition.
"Well, I have to confess something -- I wanted a boy," she conceded (that
cha-ching sound you hear? It's the rapidly rising cost of Valentina's future
therapy bill). "At the beginning I did. Probably because I was afraid. I think
women suffer a bit more than boys, and there is always conflict between mothers
and daughters."
Now, however, "I'm so happy she's a girl," gushes Salma. "And I can't imagine
there ever being conflict between us, because I'm in a state of innocence where
I love everything she does. If she does a poop and I have to change the diaper,
I love that moment!"
Sighs the euphoric star, "I just feel so fortunate to be her mother, and it
makes me excited about the rest of my life, because I will get to witness her
transformation every day. I feel I was born to have this girl."
Speaking of transformations, Jamie Lynn Spears may be experiencing one of the
unpleasant side effects of her expanding silhouette. According to PageSix.com,
the expectant 16-year-old starlet has been dealing with a particularly bad case
of morning sickness.
"Lynne was having her take ginger root for a while, but it has not helped
[with the nausea]," says a "family insider." "Then her doctor had her take pills
and she sucks on those preggie-pops," which are supposed to help ease the upset
stomach symptoms.
Another thing that's said to be making Jamie Lynn's tummy turn is the
attention her parents are paying to careening big sister Britney.
"Jamie Lynn wants her parents to stop babying Britney," asserts the snitch.
"It is stressful for [them] because they know Britney is in trouble and they
want Jamie Lynn to understand it."
At least the teen, who is reportedly due this summer, seems to be keeping
busy during her downtime in Kentwood, La. In addition to recently acquiring her
GED, she also appears to have settled on a design for the nursery.
PageSix, echoing recent claims that Jamie Lynn is expecting a boy, says
she wants a blue-tinged ocean theme and has already plunked down $7,000 for
"very basic" furniture -- all in white -- from go-to Los Angeles baby
boutique Petit Tresor.
