Has Amy Winehouse become the Typhoid Mary of the haute couture
set? The substance-susceptible singer was sporting a lumpy -- and infectious --
left cheek Friday night as she hit the stage at a star-crammed Fendi soiree
during Paris Fashion Week.
"It is so big I can see it out of my eye," she told the audience of her
misshapen mug (via WWD). "Do you get the mumps in France?"
Winehouse's rep tells People she was actually diagnosed with impetigo, an
extremely contagious bacterial skin infection that can cause swelling.
Fortunately, unlike the rest of her problems, this one can be cleared up with a
course of antibiotics.
"She's fine," says a confidante. "She's not hiding away. She's never been one
to care what people think."
No word on whether Amy, who stepped out Monday in London to pay a visit to
her incarcerated hubby, Blake Fielder-Civil, kept contact to a minimum at the
shindig, which attracted the likes of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Jessica Alba and Rihanna.
The wig-loving chanteuse reportedly pocketed about a million bucks for the
40-minute show, which she joked came at just the right time, "because I was
getting bored."
And bad things tend to happen when Winehouse gets bored.
"I'm available for bookings," she teased onstage (via People). "If anyone
wants me for a wedding or a bar mitzvah ... Well maybe not a wedding. My music's
a little too heartbreak. For a wedding, you need something meeker."
