There's nothing like facing down an entire state's fury over dashed Super Bowl dreams to bring two people closer together. But are Jessica Simpson and quarterback beau Tony Romo, whose romance ramped up just as the Dallas Cowboys fizzled out in the playoffs, contemplating a serious commitment after just three months of coupledom?

So speculates Us Weekly, which quotes a pal as predicting, "I think they're going to get married."

Also chiming in on the toothy Texas pair's long-term prospects is Sophia Bush, who was briefly linked to the NFL-er before he hooked up with Simpson.

"I think they could go the distance," says the actress, who may not necessarily be the best judge of longevity given that her marriage to "One Tree Hill" co-star Chad Michael Murray imploded after only five months. "They're perfect for each other."

What makes them so darn compatible, besides Romo's seemingly preternatural patience with the near-constant presence of Jessica's pop, Joe Simpson?

"They're both funny and wonderful and kind," enthuses Bush to the mag. "I'm rooting for them."

Also rooting for them -- in a more nonspecific, no-hard-feelings kind of way -- is Simpson's ex-husband, Nick Lachey.

"I wish her nothing but happiness," the Vanessa Minnillo-dating crooner graciously tells the mag. "If she's found that ... good for her."

But not everyone is convinced that happily-ever-after is in the cards for the fledgling couple, who recently enjoyed a Hawaiian getaway and a lovey-dovey, chocolate-covered-strawberry-crammed Valentine's Day dinner in Dallas.

OK!, which recently earned the ire of Simpson's legal pit bulls when it hinted that Romo was planning to drop-kick her to the curb (her attorneys demanded a "prominent and unambiguous retraction"), is convinced the nuptial nattering is a PR ploy, with a source alleging she "always leaks" info about her love life when she wants some press.

The mag says when it contacted the starlet's spokeswoman about the engagement rumblings, "She refused to deny the story or make any attempt to play down the rumor."

Either way, the "I do" talk has at least distracted from a recent lawsuit filed against Jessica.

According to the New York Post, she's being sued over a workout tape she shot just before slipping her shapely gams into that weensy pair of Daisy Dukes for the "Dukes of Hazzard" remake.

But she purportedly had a change of heart over showing the world how deeply she feels the burn, prompting the fitness company behind the video to file a $10 million suit against her (her dad is also being sued).

"They are hurting millions of fat people in America," the non-hyperbole-prone owner of the fitness company understates to the paper.

Says Simpson's mouthpiece, "It's a legal matter that's in the hands of attorneys."
