Paul McCartney's prolonged, soul-squishing divorce from Heather Mills apparently hasn't left him wary of
socializing with attractive blondes, but does he have a soft spot for Rosanna Arquette, a woman who has already inspired two hit
songs (Toto's "Rosanna" and Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes")?
So alleges Britain's News of the World, which snapped the umbrella-toting pop
icon, 65, taking a stroll with the newsboy cap-topped and Converse-shod actress,
48, in a London park on Nov. 19.
"They acted like teenagers on a first date," recalls a spy, which we assume
means they exchanged awkward small talk about their Facebook pages.
Adds a random passer-by-cum-body language expert to the tabloid, "Paul looked
very flirty ... The sparks were there for everyone to see."
The night before, the pair purportedly engaged in a "cloak-and-dagger"
rendezvous at McCartney's London home, holing up inside for two hours before
making a surreptitious exit (Arquette supposedly hid in the backseat).
A spokesman for Sir Paul tells MSN Entertainment, "We do not comment on
Paul's personal life or business affairs," but sources "close to the singer"
insist to the London Mirror that he and Rosanna were merely perambulating as
pals and are "just good friends."
McCartney was reportedly introduced to Arquette over the summer by mutual
friend Chrissie Hynde, one of the many musicians featured in the actress'
well-received 2005 rock 'n' roll documentary, "All We Are Saying."
Paul, for his part, has downplayed the many wooing whispers that emerged from
his summer sojourn in the Hamptons, where he was seen chatting up Renée Zellweger and Christie Brinkley. He and Arquette also reportedly
appeared friendly at a James Taylor concert in August, particularly during the
ditty, "How Sweet It Is (to Be Loved by You)."
"I went on holiday. I met a lot of people. I started a lot of rumors," he
told the British magazine Radio Times last month. "But there's no truth to any
of them."
Still, the former Beatle hasn't been lacking female companionship. Earlier
this month, he was photographed planting a peck on moneybags American
businesswoman Nancy Shevell.
Meanwhile, the lately wild-eyed but not-yet-ex Mrs. McCartney took a break
from ranting to the media about how badly she's been treated by the media
by seemingly proving that old adage about how there's a sucker born every
minute.
The New York Post says Mills jetted to Monaco to attend a gallery opening
with milliner-turned-sculptor David Shilling, who supposedly "showed off" his
tabloid-topping date and introduced her to Prince Albert.
"They looked chummy," a mole tells the paper of Mills and Shilling, "and he
only had eyes for her."
