Updated Nov. 25, 2008 Rarely do we root for a couple to toss in the towel, but when the towel in question is frayed, befouled and likely covered in a variety of illegal substances, then we say "yay breakup!" In a report that we hope has some semblance of truth, Britain's News of the World claims Amy Winehouse has admitted that her epically dysfunctional marriage to jailbird hubby Blake Fielder-Civil is dunzo. "It's over. There's no way back for us now. It was never going to last. We were only together for sex," the tabloid quotes the ravaged, disaster zone of a singer as saying. "I fancied him like mad, like no one else I've ever known. But it's not enough, is it?" While a rep pooh-poohs the quotes to the New York Daily News, she sidesteps the marital chatter, saying, "I have no comment at this time."
According to the London Sun, Amy and Blake argued over the phone on Saturday, leading to her latest hospitalization, which her mouthpiece blames on a bad reaction to "medication." "They had a screaming row. She was beside herself after the call -- and she just totally lost it," a spy tells the tab. "It didn't stop until she was on the floor on Sunday. She has ended up in hospital a few times after similar drink and drugs related seizures. If she carries on, one of these incidents will be her last." Winehouse wed Fielder-Civil, who is currently in rehab (and just had his appeal of the 27-month jail sentence he received for assault and obstructing justice denied), during a surprise ceremony in Miami in May 2007. When her groom landed in the pokey a few months later, she publicly pined for him, even referring to him as "Blake, incarcerated" onstage. And while it's clear that Fielder-Civil isn't what you'd call a catch, the tab says he's traded in his admitted mess of a meal ticket missus for a German model named Sophie, which is what supposedly convinced Winehouse it was over. "It's a watershed for Amy. She's been up and down for weeks but finally accepts the reality," purports a pal. "She still loves Blake on many levels but she sees there's no future. She says he wants to be with Sophie -- the model who made a play for him during his court appearances, mouthing 'I love you.'" Continues the snitch, "Amy knows he's been in touch with her, and it's almost like she thinks they're welcome to each other. But she's so furious she won't let the girl's name even be mentioned around her." The source also offers up some unwelcome details about Amy and Blake's more -- blech -- intimate moments. "Just like they were with drugs, they pushed themselves to the limit," maintains the confidant, who opines that they were into some "kinky stuff," which we won't go into so as not to ruin your appetite. "Amy said that was the basis for their relationship. It was built on sex, so when he went inside prison there was nothing for them to fall back on." The blabby source adds that Winehouse hasn't seen her hubby since he was released from the hoosegow earlier this month, despite having "loads of opportunities" to do so. She was reportedly livid that Fielder-Civil failed to let her know he was getting sprung. Concludes the mole, "Without their rampant sex life, they've got nothing, it seems. Amy still cares about Blake and wants to help him through rehab but can't see any chance of them getting back together. They were bad for each other, each pushing the other to excess, whether drugs or sex. Plus, he sponged off her. And she's awake to that now." |
