Looks like Katy Perry may finally have something to sing about that doesn't involve kissing a girl. The inexplicably ubiquitous popster's year-plus romance with Gym Class Heroes front man Travis McCoy has reportedly gone belly-up. "It's sad, but they were fighting a lot because they never saw each other and now she is going on tour," an insider explains to Us. "She just needed a clear head. It's been nonstop work for her." Adds a mole to Celebuzz, which broke the split news, "It's a hardship, but she's regrouping." The couple, who were recently hit with engagement talk, which Perry quickly denied, were snapped soaking up the sun in Mexico over the holidays, but they apparently imploded just before the year ended. Word of the breakup comes on the heels of a New York Post report that claims Katy was seen "sobbing" as she said goodbye to McCoy outside their Cabo San Lucas hotel on Christmas Day. "She was crying and kissing him and wailing, 'Don't go!'" a spywitness picture-paints to the paper. "Her parents had to pull her away." Travis, for his part, took to his blog after the bust-up and, in a move typically reserved for heartbroken tween girls with Jonas Brothers posters on their bedroom walls, expressed his feelings by posting song lyrics, in this case the Main Source ditty "Looking at the Front Door": "We fight every night, now that's not kosher/I reminisce with bliss of when we was closer/And wake up to be greeted by an argument again/You act like you're ten." McCoy, who gave Perry a diamond "promise ring" over the summer, later posted some words of his own, proclaiming, "My laptop is my new b---h. LOYAL. LISTENS. and NEVER LETS ME DOWN."

In happier ring news, Rihanna was damaging corneas in London on New Year's Eve as she flashed a behemoth sparkler on her all-important finger, which immediately led British tabloids to speculate that it was a bended-knee offering from Chris Brown, her still-unconfirmed beau of more than a year (despite a multitude of PDA-packed pictures, they'll allow only that they're good friends). Gary Oldman is nothing if not a hopeless romantic. The London Daily Mail reports the actor, 50, has pledged his eternal love for the fourth time, tying the knot with jazz singer Alex Edenborough, 31, on New Year's Eve. The couple got hitched in a small, candlelit ceremony at a chapel in Santa Barbara, followed by dinner with family and friends at the historic San Ysidro Ranch. Oldman was previously married to Uma Thurman (No. 2) and has three sons with his other exes -- one with wife No. 1, Lesley Manville, and two with wife No. 3, Donya Fiorentino.

Kelly Rutherford will be able to bring a bit more verisimilitude to her "Gossip Girl" role as perpetual husband-ditcher Lily van der Woodsen. TMZ reports she filed for divorce on Dec. 30 from Daniel Giersch, her German businessman hubby of two years, citing the usual irreconcilable differences. In this case, however, the differences must have been truly insurmountable: The actress is three months pregnant with their second child (son Hermés -- pronounced like the high-end designer -- is 2). Rutherford, 40, was previously married to Venezuelan banker Carlos Tarajano, whom she wed in June 2001. She filed for divorce in January 2002, just days before their splashy nuptials were featured on NBC's In Style Celebrity Weddings.

A surefire way to stifle rift rumors: Exchange schmoopy looks (conveniently captured by the paparazzi, of course) while vacationing in Bora Bora. That was the ticket for still slightly ooky "Heroes" honeys Hayden Panettiere, 19, and Milo Ventimiglia, 31, who were snapped relaxing -- him shirtless; her sporting a turtleneck and bikini bottoms -- over the holidays. Before taking off for the tropical locale, the duo of more than a year did a little Christmas shopping at the Container Store in New York. "They looked very happy and smiley together," a spy tells People. "Milo even carried the bags out for Hayden."

In other age-mismatched romance news, Lily Allen spent her holiday frolicking with a gray-haired gent nearly twice her age. The London Sun caught the British singer, 23, enjoying a grope-fest with multimillionaire art dealer Jay Jopling, 45, while vacationing in St. Barts. "It's early days in their relationship, but Lily has been telling pals how happy she is," a mole tells the tab. "She is thrilled with her new man, but some of her friends have urged caution because of the huge age difference. They don't want to see her get hurt. ... Jay moved in the same circles as Lily's father, so they have known each other for a number of years." Jopling is estranged from artist and photographer Sam Taylor-Wood, his wife of more than a decade and the mother of his two children.

And finally, Chace Crawford apparently adheres to the "love the one you're with" credo, at least on New Year's Eve. The New York Daily News says the dreamy-eyed "Gossip Girl" guy marked the beginning of 2009 by invading the personal space of his waitress at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami. "Her hands were full with two bottles of Champagne for him," a spy tells the paper, "so he just grabbed her face and kissed her."
