The music: With smooth tunes and a wide smile, surfer and
musician Jack Johnson is one of the decade's most successful pop performers.
Jackon is touring to support "Sleep Through the Static," the fifth record by one
of Hawaii's favorite musical sons. It features the mellow tracks Johnson is
known for but also takes a new focus on matters of politics and social change,
mixing in the serious with the carefree. That said, as a live experience,
Johnson's music is a perfectly melodious compliment to the hazy days of summer.
