The music: Though firmly entrenched in the sounds of
bluegrass and folk, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, located in breathtaking
Telluride, Colo., continues to enlarge the understanding of this all-American
musical style. This is no closed-system, doctrinaire event. Where else would you
find Ryan Adams, Ani DiFranco and Arlo Guthrie on the same bill? Perhaps because
of this stress on diversity, the festival, now in its 35th year, continues to
grow in stature and attendance. In addition, each day, one can attend live
workshops, where musicians talk and share ideas about their exacting art.
