The music: Few festivals have as rich a history as Newport,
most known as the place where, in 1965, Dylan went electric. Over the decades,
the festival has changed a great deal, and now features a most eclectic line-up (including Bob's son, Jakob). Where else can you find indie-diva Cat Power sharing a bill with jam-band
maestro Trey Anastasio, not to mention alt-country godfather Levon Helm, early
70s revivalists The Black Crowes, and, to top it off, living legends Brian
Wilson and Jimmy Buffett. It's a long way from protest songs and left-wing
politics, but a thrilling experience just the same.
