(...Story Continued from Previous Page) Ladies, how do we get in on the
action?) Real or Fake?: Tina Turner sounds and looks incredible; she's an icon and a
goddess, OK? But why, oh why, did she need to have her nipples poking through
that silver catsuit? Seriously, we tried to look away but they totally followed
you around the room. Second Best Duet With
History: Beyoncé and Tina Turner, rolling, rolling, rolling on the
river. In the appreciative audience: "Proud Mary" composer John Fogerty. Most Endearing Hair
Malfunction: Dave Grohl's during the Foo Fighters' fabulous outdoor set. Grohl sure loves that
floppy face-covering mop. Grunge, my friends, is not
dead. Creepiest Animated Insects: The enormous
twitchy ticks projected behind sweet Brad Paisley. Yes, that's the name of the song, but
... eeeeeew. Prickliest Acceptance Speech: Kanye
West's annoyance at the wind-it-up music after winning best rap album for "Graduation." (Glad he won,
though.) Joshingest Teasing Remark: Country winner
Vince Gill tweaking Kanye after shaking hands with Ringo Starr. "I just had an award given to me by a
Beatle. Has that happened to you yet, Kanye?" Most
Random Fashion Trend: Ladies' neckties. Beyoncé, Feist and others had
long dangly ... things ... hanging down from their necks. For no apparent
reason. Most Random "Alter-Era" Pairing:
Keely Smith and Kid Rock. Just one question: Why? Most
Adorable Wearing of This Season's "It" Color: Taylor Swift, in her
sweet lavender column. Best Faux Nightclub: The
auditorium, complete with mood-lighting chandeliers, in London where a
fab-rehabbed Amy Winehouse sang "You Know I'm No Good" -- and an only
slightly tongue-in-cheek "Rehab." But we wanted more, more,
more. Most Believable (and Adorable) Look of
Shock: Winehouse's, when she was named winner of record of the year.
Arm in arm in London with her sweet mum, all teary-eyed. Us
too. Oddest Anti-Climax: Pretty much everything
after Winehouse's performance. The roster of the departed was lovely, as always,
but the speechifying by recording academy President Neil Portnow and duet by
Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli (sweet as it was) seemed like they should have
come earlier in the show. How Many Past Grammy Winners Are
There, Anyways?: By the end they were bunching them up just to get them
all in: John Fogerty, a not-so-scary Jerry Lee Lewis and a cracklin' Little
Richard. Kept expecting to see Dylan, Springsteen, Van Morrison, Toto and Weird
Al Yankovic ushered onto the stage. Best Use of the Theme
from "A Summer Place": Will.i.am's rap, rhyming "50th anni-" with
"Grammy." Thank you, professor! Kati Johnston is a regular
