Wilco's fourth was the Americana equivalent of "Kid A," interweaving
traditional techniques with electronics, ditching genre-stalwart status to break
new ground. The album's curious journey underscored big changes afoot, too.
Rather than ... morecave to record label pressure to commercialize their sound, Wilco
bought back their own record and streamed it gratis on the Internet. The
commercial physical release, months later, almost seemed an afterthought.
