Hot off a recent performance on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and basking in the laudable summer buzz of successful shows at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Sasquatch, Portland electro-rockers Hockey are the stuff of CMJ dreams.

The quartet has suffered through enough obligatory ... moreshowcases at hot and crowded venues like New York City's Mercury Lounge to graduate from college radio popularity to growing success on "grown-up" charts like iTunes and Billboard. Their energy is as contagious as their hooks, and they're quickly becoming recognized as one of the best new bands of the year, which explains the blocks-long line that inched its way along Houston Street during their main CMJ show. 

Hockey's new album "Mind Chaos" dropped to high critical praise in early October.
