The Stax studio control room, as preserved in the Stax Museum at 926 East
McLemore Avenue in Memphis. An old movie theater in a run-down section of East
Memphis, the Stax offices and studios were part club-house, part neighborhood
magnet for local kids, many of whom joined the staff or the house
band.
