(...Story Continued from Previous Page) No matter how much you love this person,
they've hurt you, whether it's emotionally, physically, mentally. They have left
the mark. Whenever you do find that confidence to take your heart and run from
the situation, it's a burden lifted off of your shoulders.
Who's it about in terms of your relationships?
Even in taking my heart and running, I have to respect that situation as
well. I don't think anybody could relate to the song if they knew who it was
about because then it's like you'd think about me and that other person and it's
more of a song that I want the message to get across and the lyric to get across
and not my relationship with someone else.
You will say "You're My Sunday" is about Tony Romo.
That song is definitely his song. He has really calmed the craziness of my
world. When I feel like I just need to fall into someone's arms and rest because
I'm so tired of fighting, he's there and he really just loves me for me. I don't
have to be anybody different.
Speaking of, when you forgot the lyrics to "9 to 5" at the Kennedy
Center Honors in 2006, Dolly Parton wrote you a note
that said, "Keep being yourself." What did that mean to you?
I just cried and cried [that night], because I felt like I failed her so bad.
I apologized to her onstage, ran off the stage crying. She just told me to never
neglect the gifts that God has given me and if I ever needed anything she would
be right there for me. I just thought it was really amazing that she went out of
her way to make sure I went to sleep that night comfortable.
She wrote the title track for you and sings on it. What was it like
in the studio the day she came in?
I was working and couldn't come into the studio. [My dad] videotaped it for
me. She looks into the camera and said, "Well Jessica, you sung your butt off
and I sang my butt off and so now we're two blondes with no asses!"
You're about to become an aunt. Are you thinking about having your
own kids?
Um ... (long pause) I have a godson, too, who's about to be 1. I love the
little dude so much. Being around him, it's like, "Wow! This is a lot of work."
I need to be able to get to the point in my life where I can calm down a bit
before I can have children, but I want a ton of kids.
