David Byrne and Brian Eno

When they first teamed on three consecutive Talking Heads albums, Heads
honcho David Byrne and producer Brian Eno were clearly kindred spirits sharing
an art school perspective that informed the music's sense of shape and
adventure. The artistic and commercial success of those essential new wave
releases -- "More Songs About Buildings and Food," "Fear of Music" and
"Remain in Light" -- stemmed from music that moved brain and body alike,
and mixed up pop's usual romantic preoccupations with deeper themes and sonic
abstraction.
Now the multi-tasking Byrne (who's ventured post-Heads into a career spanning
conceptual art ranging from industrial design to PowerPoint presentations) and
the superstar composer and producer (a sonic architect for no less iconic bands
than U2 and Coldplay) have joined forces in the studio for a new album that
rekindles that partnership.
Brian Eno and I recently finished our first
collaboration in about 30 years. For the most part, Brian did the music and I
wrote some tunes, words and sang. It's familiar but completely new as well.
We're pretty excited.
