Debuting with an earnest stab at alternative country-rock, singer/songwriter
Patrick Davis was only in his early 20s when he recorded his debut album. Born in Tennessee but raised in South Carolina, he was raised by a blues guitarist and learned an appreciation for roots music early on. Hitting the small-town bar scene at the age of 17,
Davis developed his Americana-inspired music while opening for artists like
Edwin McCain and
Hootie & the Blowfish. He eventually started touring the Southeast, spreading his name as he recorded and released an EP,
The Demo. He spent a good portion of 2002 in the studio, recording his full-length debut with producer
Mark Bryan. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide
