Miranda Lambert scores first number one album

Miranda Lambert has landed her first number one album, becoming only the 11th country artist to make it to the top of the Billboard 200 countdown.

Her fifth release, "Platinum," has rocketed to the top of the charts with 179,000 first-week sales.

It's also her fifth straight number one on America's Top Country Albums countdown.

Meanwhile, the "Frozen" soundtrack is on the rise again, moving from four to two on the new Billboard 200, while Brantley Gilbert's "Just As I Am" slips a spot to three.

50 Cent's new album "Animal Ambition" debuts at four and last week's number one, Coldplay's "Ghost Stories," falls to five.

Meanwhile, Australian rapper Iggy Azalea scores a third week atop the Hot 100 singles chart with "Fancy," keeping "Problem," her own collaboration with Ariana Grande, at number two.

John Legend's "All of Me" is also unmoved at three, while British star Sam Smith scores his first top 10 at 10.

He tells, "I am genuinely gobsmacked. I keep asking my team if they've made a mistake. Thank you so much, America, for everything."

Who cares if she writes her own songs?  Only people like Toby Keith even bring garbage like this up.  Many singers have had huge careers with songs others have penned.

The way the first sentence of the article reads makes it sound as if Miranda has never had a #1 album before. All 5 of her albums have debut at #1. This was however her 1st to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. As for her writing the songs, she co-wrote 8 of the tracks including the 1 she wrote herself. Miranda done a majority if not all of the writing on her first 3 albums and co-wrote or wrote half or more of the tracks on her last 2 albums. People need to get their facts straight before dissing such a talented country artist/musician.

Did she write any of the songs?   No.
