Richie Sambora says he quit Bon Jovi tour to be with daughter

Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora says he quit the band's 2013 tour so he could spend more time with his daughter.

The rocker left the tour in April citing a "personal matter," and he was dogged by speculation his departure was due to a falling out with singer Jon Bon Jovi over money. Sambora remained tight-lipped about his reasons for quitting, but he has now revealed his decision to stay at home was due to a desire to spend more time with his daughter, Ava, who turned 16 last month.

He tells The Today Show Australia, "Honestly, I went out for the first leg of the tour, I had no idea this was going to happen. I just started spending time with my kid between [tour] legs, and my spirit wouldn't pull myself out the door. I just needed to be home."

Sambora has not ruled out rejoining the band and insists quitting the tour doesn't mean the end of the rock group. He says, "I think [I will rejoin the band], yeah, I'm pretty sure. I don't think it's going to be the end of the band or anything like that."

Really but bon jovi must tour or the contract is null/void,not really bringing in the monies like the 1990s/1980s,most of the washed up older acts must tour to make a go of it today, still shocked really why he left the rock world behind for a "rocking chair",maybe his vocals are not as strong, certain notes are not so easy as before i would guess!

My hats off to Richie, Spending time with your kids is priceless, I just lost my 26 yr old daughter in a car accident, having to work for a living under" big brothers" rules sucks, family always suffers. I passed on many family events to make a living and pay bills, the big losers were my kids and I, now I cant make up the time with my daughter.

he is not the first rocker to quit the band mid tour.  at least he had a valid excuse family which is more important to any one then music. and nice to see he is so hopeful he will rejoin the group when John wound up having to fire him in the end.
