JC Chasez gives 'NSYNC reunion details; Justin Timberlake thanks fans

'NSYNC's rehearsals for their MTV Video Music Awards reunion were both hilarious and ridiculous, according to JC Chasez. The bandmates had a lot of fun working out old dance routines but couldn't believe that their secret get together leaked so quickly.

The boy band reformed to perform for two minutes as part of a 15-minute salute to Justin Timberlake, who picked up the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs, and Chasez admits it was a lot of fun to reteam behind closed doors.

Bing: Fans react 'NSYNC on MTV VMAs

He tells radio host Ryan Seacrest, "Essentially everybody has remained the same and we all see each other at different times ... but this was the first time we had a rehearsal together in 10 years, so everyone was going, 'Can we go through this one more time slowly?' That part was pretty funny."

But he was stunned at how fast word of the reunion spread: "When J (Timberlake) called me he's like, 'Lets really make it a treat and let's not tell anybody.'

"I don't know if there are cameras in the ceiling or whatever but ... we were in rehearsal and Lance (Bass) walked in and said, 'Well, everybody knows now,' and we were like, 'How in the world did they figure it out?'"

Chasez says that although the old pals had a lot of fun in rehearsals and onstage at the VMAs in Brooklyn on Sunday, there will be no more comebacks: "It was just about five guys who were great friends, who spent 10 or 15 years together touring and we... wanted to give that back to our fans, but we were there mainly to support Justin."

Timberlake still on a high hours after the ceremony, the singer/actor posted a note to fans on his official website.

He wrote, "The last time I wrote you an open letter, it was in January and I promised that it would be a 'Big 2013.' Since then, from The Grammys to the release of the first part of 'The 20/20 Experience' to the crowd's response at the VMAs, it's been a wild ride. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have."

He then added, "This letter is to tell you that we're not done... Not even close. On Sept 30th, the second half of 'The 20/20 Experience,' 'The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2', comes out. Since all these songs were written together over a year ago, it's been so hard to wait this long to release them. I can't wait for all of you to hear 'The 20/20 Experience' in full.

"Catch your breath... We've still got the 3rd and 4th quarter (of the year) to go."
