Ringo Starr green-lights Beatles-inspired children's book

Ringo Starr has given the go-ahead for an illustrated children's book based on his Beatles song "Octopus's Garden."

The track, which features on the 1969 Beatles album "Abbey Road," tells of a hidden world beneath the waves and has long been a kids' favorite due to its nursery rhyme qualities.

The drummer has given publishing company Simon & Schuster and illustrator Ben Cort permission to produce a children's book based on the song.

"It gives me great pleasure to collaborate with Ben Cort and Simon & Schuster for the further adventures of 'Octopus's Garden,'" said Starr.

The book, which tells the story of five youngsters on an underwater adventure, will come with a CD featuring a previously unheard Starr song and is due for release in the U.K. in October.
