Pink fires back at critics after show cancellation

Pink has penned an emotional open letter slamming critics who attacked the singer after she was forced to cancel a rescheduled concert in the U.K. on Friday.

Find: Pink's daughter contributes to new album

The "So What" singer, real name Alecia Moore, originally postponed her April 22 concert at Birmingham's LG Arena to this month after doctors diagnosed her with an inner ear and respiratory infection, but the rescheduled gig had to be axed altogether after her condition failed to improve.

Many frustrated devotees expressed their anger at the cancellation online, but now the star has defended her actions in a heart-felt post on her website, in which she apologises to fans who felt let down by her decision to scrap the show, insisting she's only human.

She writes, "To all of the fans/friends/people/ticket buyers from the Birmingham show that I had to cancel... I sincerely apologize, AGAIN, for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Sincerely. I actually rode by the venue, and saw some of you in line, and there was not a f**king thing I could do about any of it. Except cry. My heart was absolutely broken.

"I am getting a lot of hate mail from some of you, not all. But to those of you that expect and feel entitled to perfection; Have a look at my track record... for tours past. I have an incredible record. I do not cancel and I do not take it for granted how much trouble people go to (to attend my concerts)..."

Pink goes on to reveal that she's since contracted rotavirus, which causes vomitting and diarrhea: "I am a human being, therefore I am able to catch illness. It is beyond my control- and I can't apologize for that. And you know what I've been performing through the last week? ROTA virus (sic). Look it up. I challenge any one of you to do what I do while sick with that. You couldn't do it... "For the loyal and understanding fans- I am so so sorry if I've hurt you in any way. For the rest of you - Kindly kiss my entire almost back to healthy a**. Love always, Alecia the human also known as p!nk."

Way to stand up for yourself.  What a bunch of selfish a**holes expecting you to perform when sick.  I'd be willing to bet that half of them would have called in sick to work the day after the concert.

ROTA Virus is nothing to play with.  I had it when my little girl was 2.  I had to fly my Mom in 1000 miles to take care of us.  It is highly contagious. After a week my poor mom got it as well.  Stuff comes out of you uncontrollably and all you want to do is die......not fun at all.  I feel for you Pink I really do.

Good for her.  She had every right to defend herself.  Some of the fans of these stars are nuts.  They need to realize that these people are human beings not little robots that are just there for everyone to have do things at their will.  I'm sure she refunded everyone's ticket money so what is the problem.  That is the problem with everyone today. They want what they want and they want it NOW.  They don't care who gets in the way or who gets hurt.  It is sad and it is wrong.  Pink's response to her fans, and the people that call themselves her fans but obviously are not, was perfect.  She wasn't being overly damatic, she was defending herself and anyone else in her position would have felt the need to do the same.   I for one enjoy Pink's music.  I have never been to one of her concerts.  If I was scheduled to and she had to cancel because of illness I would completely understand.  That is what you do...plain and simply.  You don't sit down and write her a nasty note....COME ON!  Hope she recovers quickly from her illnesses and returns to performing soon.

Pink does not rock. A 30 plus year old "brat" still throwing up a fist and fighting the "mean girls" and "haters"- when she has few problems in the world. She's a Avril Lavign with more street cred.

Since her debut she has been fake and playing victim of: troubled home (not true- just arguing and divorce), overcontrolling management that forced her be a Vanilla Hip Hop girl (not true- she was in a all white R&B girl group before she was groomed for solo career), victim of a no good boyfirend who lives off her money (not true- but Corey still married her).

She's lucky she has family, a husband and fans.

"A lot of hate mail from SOME...not all"?

That's Pink in a nut shell- always overblowing things- then respondinging dramatically. I'm sure this experience will inspire a song for her next album. "I HATE YOU (some of you) a A LOT.....yea...yea...yea...oooohhhh"
