Lady Gaga rejected $1 million offer to perform at GOP national convention

WENN

Pop superstar Lady Gaga rejected a $1 million offer to give presidential candidate Mitt Romney a big boost in the run-up to the election last year by performing at the Republican National Convention.

Court documents unveiled this week reveal that the singer had been approached by organizers of the Republican Party's pre-election gathering to hit the stage at the Tampa, Fla., event, even though she's one of the most outspoken gay rights advocates and a fan of Romney's Democratic rival Barack Obama.

Representatives at the American Action Network, the group behind the convention, even tried to sway Gaga by offering to donate $150,000 to a domestic violence shelter in exchange for her participation.

The details emerged in legal papers submitted to the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. as part of a legal battle between the American Action Network and entertainment vendor Cater America over a scrapped Lynyrd Skynyrd concert, which was axed ahead of the RNC due to the threat of Hurricane Isaac in late August.

It's the desperate gasps of a party loosing the grumpy racist homophobic old pr*cks that make up the largest part of its base. Silly attempt at trying to appear cool to younger people! Now the Repubs are pissin off the 2nd largest part of their base, the Bible thumpers by beginning to finally agree that all people are in fact created equal and have the right to legal marriage.

The right has done a fantastic job of politicizing every possible issue it can mixing in smoke mirrors and BS . This has succeeded in getting the nation nowhere but further in debt and divided. Jindel the fallen Indian rightwing hero had it right " The party of the stupid"

I'll bet your on the government tit olbassman!

I've found that the loudest anti government morons are the old f*rts sitting around getting a union pension sucking up the social security money I'm paying in for them and getting government run health care! The majority of middle class conservatives' are just a pack of hypocrites that only hate there own countries government when they feel it's helping other people! especially anyone not white!

Racism is an American disease that mainly afflicts the grumpy old men who benefit the most from our great society! GET IT RIGHTY

If I had known Romney's campaign was THAT desperate, I would not have been so stunned by the insane vote to rehire the demolition man in the white house. Obviously they knew they were in trouble when trying to hire a no-talent liberal radical twit to "entertain" at the convention thinking she would attract... whatever ??

I will also look more closely at any future campaign contributions. Gaga ... really?

The Repubs only support partial liberty, personal property rights. The Dems only support partial liberty, personal civil rights. Libertarian independents cherry pick the best of both parties and support Constitutional personal civil/property rights for all with accountability to avoid harm or infringement of any other human's equal rights.

This smells of "planted" evidence that has no value other than to keep Gaga semi-relevant.  She has already "jumped a school of sharks" in her career and has very little left to shock people with.
