Prince apologizes for damaging borrowed guitar during Fallon set

Prince has apologized to Roots guitarist "Captain" Kirk Douglas after trashing his guitar during a late-night TV set in New York last week.

The enigmatic musician asked to borrow Douglas' 1961 Epiphone Crestwood ax for his two-song performance on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" and threw the instrument to the ground before walking off the set.

Douglas, the guitarist in Fallon's house band, the Roots, has since posted a photo of the broken guitar on Twitter, writing, "Maybe it's because I'm a dad but I think framing the guitar is a little like rewarding bad behavior."

He did assure fans, though, that Prince is making amends for smashing the guitar. He writes, "His people reached out and made arrangements to take care of damages. Guitar's in the shop."

Coincidentally, Douglas will be performing as part of a Prince tribute concert, which is scheduled to take place at Carnegie Hall in New York on Thursday night.

Prince - such a jerk. Trashing someone else's guitar could never be considered cool. But what really gets me is he's such a creepy little self-centered egomaniac AND a very talented musician. Doesn't seem fair. The karmic wheel is out of whack...

I love it when Prince rocks out.  He's a helluva guitarist.  Check out his playing of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the 2004 Hall of Fame induction.  You will then see that he has a habit of throwing his guitar.

I guess Jehovah told him to do it along with all the other weird little things Jehovah tells his followers to do. The whole thing was retarded....the guitar is lying on the floor feeding back loudly...everybody walking and looking around...more loud feedback ....sound mixer on show could have cut the guitar mic off but did not want to step on the "artistry" of the little purple turd....I finally had to mute my TV cause nobody on the show would stop the feedback. Dah
