Singer Celine Dion has canceled a series of Las Vegas shows after developing sinusitis.
The Canadian star was sick with the flu last week, but she has now developed a more serious sinus infection, prompting her to cancel this week's Sin City performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Dion's doctors have ordered her to rest for a week, and she hopes to resume her residency on February 26.
Bing: Lady Gaga forced to cancel tour
A statement posted on the singer's website reads, "We regret to inform you that Celine performances Tuesday, Feb. 19, through Friday, Feb. 22, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace have been canceled. After recovering from the flu last week, Celine developed a secondary infection (sinusitis) which is being treated with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicine. Her doctor has instructed her to rest for a period of seven consecutive days in order for her to fully recover. Celine's previously scheduled dates Feb. 26 through Mar. 16 will proceed as scheduled."
Ticket holders are being offered refunds.
My wife and I had tickets to see her a few years ago towards the end of her concert series. We were met at the venue with a sign stating that the show was cancelled. No explanation was given. While we were in the taxi on the way to the airport, the driver said that she often cancelled if the show wasn't sold out. We will be in Vegas again this May, but we have no intention of trying again.
