Terry Hall's cancer scare
The Specials singer Terry Hall has quit smoking after surgeons removed a cancerous growth from his mouth. The Ghost Town hitmaker, 53, was given the bad news during a visit to a dentist who noticed a lump on the British pop star's tongue. Doctors removed the growth and Hall was given the all-clear last summer (12), so the former heavy smoker has vowed never to touch cigarettes again following his health scare. He tells Britain's Mojo magazine, "You try everything to stop - (including books by) Allen Carr and all that. But you're told something like that and you'll never put one near your mouth again."
