Sinead O'Connor happy new music is overshadowing personal life

Sinead O'Connor is "really glad" her new music has taken the spotlight off her personal life following a tumultuous 2012.

The singer hit headlines early last year when her on/off relationship to Barry Herridge collapsed just weeks after their Las Vegas wedding in December, 2011.

O'Connor subsequently suffered a meltdown while on tour in Europe in April and scrapped her entire 2012 schedule to retreat from the music industry and seek treatment for her bipolar disorder.

The star has since returned to performing and is promoting her latest album "How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?" -- and she is delighted her career is now overshadowing her personal life.

"I'm having a great time making music," she said to TV host Lorraine Kelly. "I'm really enjoying that the live shows are going so well. Everyone's responded so well to the album and everything so I'm really glad the kind of focus is back on being a musician. So long as I just keep my mouth shut and behave myself"
