British singer Morrissey has axed three gigs on his North American tour after his entire band fell ill.
Bing: Morrisseey on tour
The former The Smiths frontman is on a 37-date trek around the U.S. and Mexico but he cancelled a concert in Flint, Michigan on Thursday three hours before showtime after members of his backing group were taken sick. He has since pulled two more upcoming gigs -- in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Friday and Chicago, Illinois on Saturday -- to give his drummer, bassist and two guitarists time to recover.
"Morrissey's concert ... in Flint, Michigan has been cancelled and subsequent performances in Minneapolis ... and Chicago ... are currently being postponed due to band illness," said a spokesman for the singer, in a statement. "Those who have already purchased tickets for (the) show in Flint will be refunded their full ticket price. Those who have already purchased tickets for performances in Minneapolis and Chicago are highly encouraged to hold on to their tickets and look out for rescheduled dates.
Said the statement: "The tour will resume Monday, January 28 in Asheville, North Carolina. Morrissey would like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience and wishes his band a speedy recovery!"
