Barry Manilow has been forced to cancel the preview performance of his "Manilow on Broadway" residency due to a sudden case of bronchitis.
The singer had been scheduled to perform at the St. James Theatre in New York on Tuesday before the official opening of the concert series on Thursday, but had to pull out at the last minute.

A statement on Manilow's official website reads, "With deep apologies, and due to a sudden case of bronchitis, tonight's show will be postponed until February 26th. Mr. Manilow can be found on the Brooklyn Bridge, getting ready to jump. (JK) (joke)"
Earlier on Tuesday, Manilow attended the unveiling ceremony of Barry Manilow Way, a street corner in Midtown Manhattan renamed in his honor.
"Manilow on Broadway" is due to run from January 24 to February 23.
