Molly Ringwald to release jazz standards album

Actress-turned-author Molly Ringwald is entering the music world, releasing an album of standards.

The "Breakfast Club" star's debut, "Except ... Sometimes," will be released in April. The upcoming release will feature her renditions of songs like "I Get Along Without You Very Well" and "I'll Take Romance," and she also takes on Madonna's "Dick Tracy" tune "Sooner or Later."

Bing: 'Breakfast Club' getting remake?

At her Tuesday night New York concert debut at the 54 Below club, Ringwald ended her set with a jazz version of Simple Minds' "Don't You (Forget About Me)," which served as the theme for "The Breakfast Club."

Her father, Bob Ringwald, is a jazz pianist.

Molly Ringwald used to sing with her dad's trad jazz band as a kid, so this comes as no surprise. Looking forward to hearing her stuff.

I've never heard her sing, but I wish her all the best luck selling her album.
