PSY's 'Gangnam Style' wins Korean top song award

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- Rapper PSY's worldwide smash "Gangnam Style" has been crowned song of the year by South Korea's music industry association.

Bing: Did PSY retire 'Gangnam Style'?

The viral sensation that became an international chart-topper last year won the Digital Daesang honor at the 2013 Golden Disk Awards, considered South Korea's version of the Grammys.

PSY did not attend Wednesday night's awards ceremony at Malaysia's Sepang International Circuit.

"Gangnam Style" clinched the award that's determined largely by downloads and ringtone sales. The song edged out contenders including Big Bang, G-Dragon and T-ara.

The two-day awards ceremony was held outside South Korea for the second consecutive year, following a round in Japan last year.

Boy band Super Junior captured top album honors Tuesday for its sixth studio release, "Sexy, Free & Single."

After the comments he made about America, it seems absurd that anyone in this country would consider this person for any award. He needs to take his horse and ride home and stay there. This, like disco fever, will die and be replaced with something else inane. True music stands the test of time, which this isn't.

Is it over yet??? Are we finally coming back to our senses? I hope so, up to now I cannot fathom what is so special about this song or dance. Millions done it before.

He should stay in Korea; his anti-American troops comment. Ranks right up there with Hanoi Jane.
