The stars are contenders in the Outstanding Music Artist category, as are bands Scissor Sisters and Gossip.

TV mogul Ryan Murphy's hit shows "Glee" and "The New Normal" are both up for the Outstanding Comedy Series trophy, facing competition from "Go On," "Happy Endings" and "Modern Family."

The Outstanding Film nominees include "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," "Cloud Atlas," "ParaNorman," "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and "Your Sister's Sister." The awards, which celebrate positive media depiction of the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender community, will be handed out in three ceremonies in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco from March through May.

Announcing the shortlist on Wednesday, GLAAD president Herndon Graddick says, "This year's nominees enlighten and entertain, but also reflect a new American landscape where a growing majority accept and value their LGBT family, colleagues and friends. Now, more than ever, viewers not only accept gay and transgender plot lines, they expect them."

The juvenile, non educated,  attention seeking comments reflect on the posters, not the LBGT community. Your myth based moral judgements does nothing but shed light on your ignorance and fear of your own sexuality, otherwise you'd be monitoring your own lives instead of people that have no bearing on your personal life. Why does a stranger's sexual preference matter to you? God is love, not hate and think He would be more disappointed in the humans that foster hate than love between partners that just want to build a happy life.

I'm especially thrilled at Adam Lambert's nomination and of course hope he is given the honor. His Trespassing album is a great testament to the LBGT community with songs that reflect his life's journey, the highs and lows, bravado and insecurities that are so well masked , but there, nonthe less.He ultimately also shows how much all of us, straight or gay are really alike with the same hopes, dreams  and fears. Adam has educated and made so many straight people, myself included, giving us a very personal look at the inequities that still exist. He truly is a beautiful spirit that touches people worldwide with his beautiful gifts and magnificent voice. His vocal ability and stage presence are unmatched. So glad that Glaad recognizes this magnificent man and all of the other wonderful artists. :)  funbunn40
