Producer: David Bowie won't perform live again

WENN

David Bowie has assured longtime friends and collaborators who worked with him on his comeback album they won't have to learn how to perform the tracks live -- because he has no plans to tour.

The rocker announced news of new music and released a new single on his birthday on Tuesday, but producer Tony Visconti tells NME.com fans needn't start saving up for concert tickets.

Bing: Early Ringo Starr recordings surface

He said, "He's fairly adamant he's never gonna perform live again... One of the guys would say, 'Boy, how are we gonna do all this live?' and David said, 'We're not'. He made a point of saying that all the time."

Bowie's new album, The Next Day, will be released in March.

Well let's be a little optimistic about hearing loss, after all there not much music nowday's I would want to fully hear.. The bone thumping bass and car shaking big bottom is all that's needed today anyway and I really don't miss the nasal sounding breathy confessionals of today's crop of "artists"  from the higher end of the audio spectrum...jus sayin

Bowie is/was always very overrated. He wasn't a rock star. He was a circus act. Take all of his music out of history and there will be absolutely no gap to fill.

That's because the music now is all computer generated.  Not necessary to have a "band".

You can't perform without performers.

Finally

Some people should just go away and enjoy their rewards for putting one over on the general public

I'll never begrudge someone who will work hard to pay their bills

But fads are fads and his 15 minutes of fame lasted 40 yrs too long

I agree with this fully. When I was a teenager I couldn`t wait to see what band would put on the loudest show. Now I suffer from a 35% loss in my left ear. What a disadvantage for a once-aspiring young musician. Enjoy all your given senses before age takes them from you.
