Producer: David Bowie won't perform live again

David Bowie has assured longtime friends and collaborators who worked with him on his comeback album they won't have to learn how to perform the tracks live -- because he has no plans to tour.

The rocker announced news of new music and released a new single on his birthday on Tuesday, but producer Tony Visconti tells fans needn't start saving up for concert tickets.

He said, "He's fairly adamant he's never gonna perform live again... One of the guys would say, 'Boy, how are we gonna do all this live?' and David said, 'We're not'. He made a point of saying that all the time."

Bowie's new album, The Next Day, will be released in March.

"Where Are We Now" is cryptic. Is he literally showing us that the bottle is empty?

This is my interpretation:

Touring is a physically difficult undertaking. Add to that the stress of dealing with tour managers, promoters, over-zealous fans and you have what happened a few years back when Bowie had a heart attack. I don't blame him for not touring. I see people saying that he's broke and trying to make a kast buck on his new album; nothing could be further from the truth. Bowie's weath is second only to Sir Paul McCartney among British musicians. I, for one, look forward to hearing the latest sharing of art from a man who has been continually one of the greatest musicians of the last fifty years. thank you for your time.
Still has more talent in his little finger than all the forgettable Hip Hop and diva garbage flowing through the sewers these days.
