Injured Whitesnake drummer quits the band

Whitesnake drummer Brian Tichy has quit the group less than a week after breaking his collar bone in a mountain bike accident.

The rocker, who has also worked with Billy Idol, Ozzy Osbourne and Foreigner, was forced to bow out of a Las Vegas concert with his band The Moby Dicks on New Year's Eve  after severely injuring his clavicle. And it appears his recovery time has prompted Tichy to consider his future as the man behind Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale.

He reveals he wants to focus on his supergroup Something Unto Nothing, which he formed with Canadian rocker Sass Jordan and his now-former Whitesnake bandmate Michael Devin.

Coverdale says, "We are truly sad to see him go, but, we fully support the pursuit of his ambitions and sincerely wish him well. His fearless drumming brought a relentless driving edge and to our music that we fully embraced. Good luck, Brian... May the S.U.N. shine brightly on you."

The singer and his band are now on the search for a new drummer.

Coverdale must still have a big ego. That's not good for an aging rock vocalist with limited range.

I thought Whitesnake broke up years ago. For a once big band, they are nothing now.

Good to see an amicable parting of ways and support from Mr. Coverdale. Whitesnake has been doing it for many years and at a high level. There are many great drummers out there. They'll find one.

Focus on his supergroup??  Hoy Veh. I asssume they will be paying for the recording studio themselves.
