Norah Jones breaks silence on father Ravi Shankar's death

Jazz singer Norah Jones has broken her silence following her father Ravi Shankar's death on Tuesday, saying the celebrated sitar player will be "greatly missed."

The Indian musician passed away in San Diego at the age of 92, and his wife of 23 years, Sukanya, and music composer daughter, Anoushka Shankar, have already taken to his official website to mourn their loss.

The "Don't Know Why" singer," who was the result of a relationship Shankar had with her concert promoter mother Sue Jones, has spoken out to express her grief. A statement from the star to the Wall Street Journal reads, "My dad's music touched millions of people. He will be greatly missed by me and music lovers everywhere."

A post reads, "We were at his side when he passed away. We know that you all feel our loss with us, and we thank you for all of your prayers and good wishes through this difficult time. Although it is a time for sorrow and sadness, it is also a time for all of us to give thanks and to be grateful that we were able to have him as a part of our lives. His spirit and his legacy will live on forever in our hearts and in his music."

Meanwhile, Shankar is set to be honored by Recording Academy next yearwith a posthumous Lifetime Achievement award at the Grammys.

Maybe he never made and effort to be a father to her because SHE WAS WHITE.... AND MARRIED... Maybe you don't know the whole story :)

Nora is only speaking publicly for her career's sake. She has openly said she never made an effort to have a relationship with her father and that she considers herself white. If that isn't disrespectful to her Indian heritate then I don't know what is.
he was a musical genius..........and he is now playing with Georgie again
