Spice Girls funded their Olympics performance

The Spice Girls used their own money to pay for their show-stopping set and costumes at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games, according to singer Melanie Brown.

The group reunited for the show in London, where they rode into the Olympic Stadium on top of traditional English black cabbies, and sang a medley of their hits "Wannabe" and "Spice Up Your Life." Brown has now revealed they used their own money to fund the extravagant performance.

She tells Britain's Daily Mail newspaper, "We didn't get paid for the Olympics -- we funded it ourselves, costumes and everything. It just goes to show how much we do get on and do like each other."

They did an awesome show.  It was great to see them together.  They brought back so many memories from when I was a kid.  Spice Girl's are awesome.

I think ALL the acts donated their time, it's better PR than the Spice Girrrls could ever get at this point of their lives....

Who cares that they spent their own money. No one ever said they should do such over-blown, horrendous sets or poor music. I am sure that since the Olympics are non-profit they deducted the amount as a charitable deduction or in the vary least a business expense. What a shame to have made millions over their careers and have to spend some of that money for more over-exposure.
