LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Costumes worn by Michael Jackson commanded hundreds of thousands of dollars at auction, and Lady Gaga was among the collectors.
Gaga tweeted Sunday that she bought 55 pieces in the sale administered by Julien's Auctions, and said she plans to keep the items "archived and expertly cared for in the spirit and love of Michael Jackson, his bravery and fans worldwide."
Auctioneer Darren Julien said the jacket that Jackson wore during his "Bad" tour fetched $240,000. Two of Jackson's crystal-encrusted gloves sold for more than $100,000 each, as did other jackets and performance costumes.
The auction, featuring the collection of Jackson's longtime costume designers Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush, raised more than $5 million. Some proceeds benefited Guide Dogs of America and Nathan Adelson Hospice of Las Vegas.
Yes! His Bravery! It's a pity that a man who only gave, created charities (Heal The World, We Are The World), and raised millions to fight world famine and help children at risk, was paid with the public humiliation of being branded a child molester with no proof whatsoever! That's why a Grand Jury of 12 people took nine days of deliberation, to finally declare him innocent and not guilty of all charges!
Michael Jackson figures in the Guinnes Book of World Records as the top philanthropist, and to his day, three years after his death, his family still supports the 39 charities Michael was supporting when he was alive by donating 20% of Michael Jackson Estate's profits.
To me, someone who reaches the international status Michael had, and decides to help other with, is a lot of personal growth that a lot of people can't understand!
