Promoter: Chris Brown cancels Guyana show

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (AP) -- Organizers say American R&B star Chris Brown has canceled a stadium concert in Guyana after local protests over his 2009 beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Brown was billed to headline a Dec. 26 show. But he drew the ire of women's rights groups and opposition lawmakers who said Brown would not be welcome in Guyana three years after his assault of Barbadian superstar Rihanna.

Concert promoter Hits & Jams Entertainment said Thursday that Brown backed out, citing discomfort with the protests.

In 2009, Brown hit, choked and bit Rihanna during an argument in Los Angeles. He later pleaded guilty to assault.

Since then, Brown has worked to repair his image, undergoing violence counseling and putting out a new album. He has a duet with Rihanna on her recently released record.

Chris Brown is and always will be an arrogant, ignorant PUNK.  Anyone who spends a dime to support this a-holes career is a moron.

He found out the truth, Don't bite the hands that feed you..Its to late.Once a woman beater always a woman beater..I would not support him or his crap music. It don't matter how hard he tries to repair his image or how many counseling he has..It about money and that is the bottom line regardless.

Really now....Guyana? r u kidding me now they r going to put a stop to abuse.  all the women i've met had episodes of their own Guyanese men beating them and all non-Guyanese women i've known who have dated Guyanese men have been beaten or verbally abuse.  i hope these women find the balls to stand up to their own men.  this is absurd.  if u r willing to forgive ur husband for the same wrong y cant u forgive someone else.  forgiveness is one of God's most admired and loved action.  Guyana forgive and move on!!!
