Promoter: Chris Brown cancels Guyana show

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (AP) -- Organizers say American R&B star Chris Brown has canceled a stadium concert in Guyana after local protests over his 2009 beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Brown was billed to headline a Dec. 26 show. But he drew the ire of women's rights groups and opposition lawmakers who said Brown would not be welcome in Guyana three years after his assault of Barbadian superstar Rihanna.

Concert promoter Hits & Jams Entertainment said Thursday that Brown backed out, citing discomfort with the protests.

In 2009, Brown hit, choked and bit Rihanna during an argument in Los Angeles. He later pleaded guilty to assault.

Since then, Brown has worked to repair his image, undergoing violence counseling and putting out a new album. He has a duet with Rihanna on her recently released record.

He found out the truth, Don't bite the hands that feed you..Its to late.Once a woman beater always a woman beater..I would not support him or his crap music. It don't matter how hard he tries to repair his image or how many counseling he has..It about money and that is the bottom line regardless.

Really now....Guyana? r u kidding me now they r going to put a stop to abuse.  all the women i've met had episodes of their own Guyanese men beating them and all non-Guyanese women i've known who have dated Guyanese men have been beaten or verbally abuse.  i hope these women find the balls to stand up to their own men.  this is absurd.  if u r willing to forgive ur husband for the same wrong y cant u forgive someone else.  forgiveness is one of God's most admired and loved action.  Guyana forgive and move on!!!

Guyana........The must get the World NEWS VERY VERY VERY LATE! I think it was nice as that they showed unity as women. But Rhianna has made her feelings loud and clear. (GUYANA watch Oprah oh her OWN Channel). So other than the fact that Guyana women and Rhianna have the caribbean factor, she doesn't need you to stick up for her. You just lost out on a great opportunity to see a great performer in you non-island Caribbean country.   His personal life and personal actions are not yours to judge. I hope the Guyana women treat ALL entertainers of any kind the same, "MAKE IT PERSONAL and judge the performer by his PERSONAL mistakes or negative thoughts against women. This way no one will ever go there! Male of female ! I'm glad Chris Brown cancelled the concert and dint look back or think enough of Guyana's past due reaction to make a statement regarding same. People are not there mistakes, WE ALL MAKE mistakes. Plus, I don't think the Guyana women had anything to worry about ! I guess the following performers-entertainers are not welcomed in Guyana; Elmo, Mitt-Romney,Ted Nugent,ANY BABY DADDY!

The Who, The Rolling Stones, Motley Crew, Young Cash Money and Little Wayne, 50 Cents, Lindsay Lohan, Chelsea Handler, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather ....the list could go on and on. On the same note, if you ever had a natural disaster, don't accept help from celebrities and entertainers who have made similar mistakes in there personal life. The ones that the media blows out of proportion!  The big kicker would be when Rhianna refuses to go to Guyana because of this. She said on Oprah that she hates to see Chris hurt or suffer. it makes her sad !
