INXS play their last show and give up touring after 35 years on the road

SYDNEY (AP) -- Australian rockers INXS are giving up touring after 35 years.

Drummer Jon Farriss announced the end of the band's remarkable run of performances during a concert in the West Australia city of Perth earlier this week. The band later confirmed the news in a statement.

INXS was formed in 1977 and released their self-titled debut album in 1980. They achieved worldwide fame with hits such as "New Sensation," ''Need you Tonight," and "Devil Inside."

Frontman Michael Hutchence died in 1997. In a statement Tuesday, the band paid tribute to their friend, saying: "We lived for each other in the trenches and we loved each other. It was the six of us against the world and then suddenly and inexplicably we were but five. "

This is not "inexplicable". Wikipedia: "On 6 February 1998, after an autopsy and coronial inquest, New South Wales State Coroner, Derrick Hand, presented his report which ruled that Hutchence's death was a suicide while depressed and under the influence of drugs and alcohol." That is your explanation. If you have a freind or coworker who needs help, help them get it - that shouldn't need explanation.

finally.  When Michael died this band should have hung it up.  And the reality show to find another singer sent them even lower.

I remember them touring with Ziggy Marley but I wasn't allowed to go.  I was pretty jealous of all the kids sporting concert shirts the next day at my high school.
