Gaga turned down Madonna duet

Mama Monster has declined an invitation to perform with the Material Girl.

It's been a less than stellar year for diva-diva relations, especially between Madonna and Lady Gaga, who have spent the last 12 months trading snipes at one another at various concert stops around the globe.

In her MDNA tour, Madonna includes a snippet of Gaga's "Born This Way" in her rendition of "Express Yourself" -- a heavy wink at the similarity between the two songs. This after Madonna told an ABC interviewer last January that the Gaga composition sounded both familiar and "reductive."

But at a recent tour stop in St. Paul, Minn., Madonna says she holds no grudges against the next-generation pop star, and had even asked her to join her for a duet, according to The Huffington Post.

"I have the best fans in the whole world. So take that, Lady Gaga!" Madonna told the crowd. "You know, I invited her onstage to sing with me. But, she turned me down. It's okay. I've been rejected before. It builds a little character."

Madonna's last North American tour stop is Nov. 20 in Miami, then she takes off for the South American leg of her tour.

If Madonna had any character, she would keep her mouth shut.

I am almost certain that if Lady Gaga were an honest person, she would just fess up to the fact that she well researched everything pertaining to Madonna and how she managed her own career before even endeavoring upon pursuing hers, and openly acknowledge that she is nothing more than a modified recent version of Madonna. But seeing that she is not, ( an honest person ) I guess it should be more than okay for her to continue lying to herself about it if that is what she wants & chooses to do... right?

Perhaps Gaga chose not to do a duet with Madonna is because Gaga does not want Madonna riding on HER coat tails.  After all, Madonna is in her 50's and needs to attach herself to the current A-listers in order for her star not to fade.  I say, fade away ... why don't you go adopt a kid or something.  Gaga is riding the crest of a big wave and doesn't need you tagging along.  She is talented, can read/write and compose music, she can play the piano and out sing you any day of the week.

Madonna's a desperate has-been who has long tried to associate herself with big stars of the moment.  Good for Lady Gaga - she doesn't need that worn-out hag.
